Overview

About this workshop

Learn the art of stone carving from Athar Jaber in his fully equipped stone carving studio.
During one week, you will be able to get the basics or boost your experience in stone carving. The exercises are tailored to your specific needs and interest.

What you will learn

  • Introduction to basic tools and techniques and one of the following:
    • letter carving
    • ornamental sculpture
    • architectural sculpture
    • figurative sculpture

What's included

All materials included

All carving materials such as hammers and chisels are included. The stone is not included but will be provided at an additional fee (between 20 and 50 Euros depending on chosen exercise).

Plaster cast models

Various plaster casts are available to copy from. But you are more than welcome to bring your own ideas along so that we can help you realise them in stone.

Studio

The classes will take place in Athar Jaber's fully equipped studio.

Personal tutoring

Athar will be available for 6 hrs/day, five days long, for your personal guidance.

What's not included

Transport

Transport to and from the studio.

Meals

Meals are not included, but can be arranged at a small additional fee. We do have beverages such as water, coffee or tea.

Safety gear

It is advisable to bring your own safety equipment such as eye protection, ear protection, gloves and safety shoes.

The five-day long workshop classes are designed to cover all aspects of stone carving for all skill levels. Whether you are a passionate beginner eager to learn, or a professional looking to expand your skill set.
